The Masterclass- ImPACT NephroCare Course.

The Masterclass – ImPaCT NephroCare, Certificate Course endorsed jointly by the Academy of Palliative Medicine (IAPC), and Indian Society of Nephrology (ISN).

This program offers a set of ‘Immersive Palliative Care Training modules’, to activate the holistic care of patients and their families facing concerns related to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), with an aim to strengthen the competencies in the field of Kidney Supportive Care. Modules for this course are prepared by a core-group of professionals from different institutions across India.

The program will use a Modular Learning Resource made available through the Learning Management System of the IAPC.

The course structure as follows:

• There will be seven modules, each of one month duration.
• Each module contains learning resources in the form of videos, and articles.
• The candidates are encouraged to watch the videos and the reading materials, within the month, and complete the online formative evaluation, before the online live meetings
• Live ECHO sessions for each Module will be held every month, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month.
• These live sessions will consist of didactics and opportunity to discuss key clinical care elements with expert panellists who were selected specifically for the modules.
• Candidates will reap maximum benefit, only if they completely go through all the learning resources, and the MCQs.
• Participation in the live session is mandatory for candidates to proceed to the next module.

Evaluation: The candidate can assess their comprehension, through the formative evaluations conducted within each module. A minimum of 80% marks are expected for these, to encourage overall learning. There will also be a summative evaluation before the end of the course; which will also be conducted online.

Post course completion, a participant will be able to:

• Define and describe Kidney Supportive Care and Conservative Kidney Management

• Identify patients with CKD with high symptom burden
• Manage the common symptoms of CKD patients
• Elicit and acknowledge the preferences and expectations of patients and families in terms of Kidney Replacement Therapy

• Guide, navigate care-decisions that reflects the medical evidence and the hopes and expectations of the patient and family.

• Identify those who are choice restricted in terms of accessing safe Kidney Replacement Therapy or other care inputs and complete the due diligence in their best interest.

• Describe and contribute to the government-based support available for Kidney Replacement and Kidney supportive Care

• Align the truly choice restricted with best supportive care
• Apply communication and coordination skills to establish and provide comprehensive Kidney Supportive are programs within the institutions they represent.
